Reception

Committee

The Reception Committee is a hospitality ministry and

one which the members are very pleased to provide.

We have a lot joy in providing catering for the parish f

or special  events and in particular for funeral receptions.

The parish can be counted on to provide food and other

help when requested and always make a wonderful contribution!

One of the big annual events that the Reception Committee spear-heads is the Holly Tea and Bazaar.  This is truly a parish involved event and is a tremendous opportunity to welcome the local community to our church home.  This is held the last Saturday of November each year and is well advertised in advance.  There is always a big crowd waiting for the doors to open, usually at 1:30 pm. Visitors can choose purchases from the bake table , cookies by the dozen and deli and gift tables before relaxing in the Tea Room for a delicious afternoon tea.

The Reception Committee is usually asked to provide a light luncheon for Vestry and for the conclusion of the Stewardship campaign.  Other special catering jobs have typically included the Bishop's visit and Outreach Ministry visitors.  Committee members have provided refreshments for our visitors for the bi-annual Giant Garage Sale.  They have also sold delicacies such as pies and cakes at events around town and gifted the proceeds to the church!

Popular events that the committee hosts and organizes are the Auction as well as the Antiques Appraisal. Both are well attended.  St. Barnabas hosts the ecumenical World Day of Prayer on a roster basis with the other local churches.  When this happens, reception committee members cater the refreshments .

The committee is blessed to be able to work in this hospitality ministry and for the parish and wider community.

Be welcome!
